What the T-GT III is and the Gran Turismo 7 licence

Thrustmaster has unveiled the T-GT III, an officially licensed Gran Turismo 7 wheel and pedal bundle for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. The announcement, published on 3 October 2026 on the manufacturer's website, describes it as the brand's fifth officially licensed Gran Turismo wheel and comes with a new agreement: Thrustmaster becomes an official partner of the Gran Turismo World Series.

According to Thrustmaster, it is the first Direct Axial Drive bundle designed for Gran Turismo and the first to include a load-cell pedal set as standard. It follows the 2017 T-GT series, which introduced the four rotary selectors the company keeps on the new wheel.

Direct Axial Drive base: 5 Nm constant, up to 10 Nm

Thrustmaster states that the T-GT III delivers 5 Nm of constant torque with an overshoot capacity of up to 10 Nm. The brand says this reserve prevents saturation and ensures very low latency; these are manufacturer claims, not SimSales measurements.

The base pairs the Direct Axial Drive motor with Thrustmaster's Harmony technology and its high-frequency torque for two game-specific haptic effects: GEAR JOLT, which conveys each gear change, and ENGINE ROAR, which makes the chassis resonate with engine RPM. Thrustmaster plans software and firmware updates to follow Gran Turismo's SPEC updates.

The announcement does not give the base a model name. Direct Axial Drive is the motor architecture Thrustmaster uses in its T598; GTPlanet believes, based on specifications and appearance, that this is the T598 base, but Thrustmaster does not confirm it in its text.

Wheel and pedals: what Thrustmaster details

The bundle includes the T-GT wheel with a leather finish and four rotary encoders mapped directly to Gran Turismo functions. The official announcement does not list the rim diameter, other materials or the number of buttons. Some outlets cite a 28 cm rim, a figure that does not appear on Thrustmaster's page.

On the pedals, Thrustmaster only says the bundle natively includes a load-cell set. It does not state how many pedals there are, the sensor's maximum force or the adjustment options. GTPlanet infers from the photos that they are the Raceline Pedals LTE with the RACELINE LC brake kit; that is the outlet's reading, not official information.

Compatibility: PS5 and PS4

Thrustmaster presents the T-GT III as a wheel for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. The announcement page does not mention PC compatibility, so we do not treat it as confirmed until the manufacturer publishes a full specification sheet.

Official Gran Turismo World Series partner

With this announcement, Thrustmaster becomes an official partner of the Gran Turismo World Series. The brand notes it was the competition's “Official Hardware Partner” from 2018 to 2020 and worked on the Olympic Esports Series in Singapore in 2023. The release includes comments from series producer Kazunori Yamauchi welcoming Thrustmaster as a partner.

Thrustmaster frames the product within 16 years of collaboration with Polyphony Digital: T500RS GT Edition (2011), T300RS GT Edition (2016) and the T-GT series (2017). According to GTPlanet, the reveal coincided with the World Series event in Singapore.

Price and availability

Thrustmaster says the complete T-GT III bundle can be purchased from 3 December for €699.99, $749.99, £649.99 and ¥136,400, with worldwide availability expected before Christmas. These are recommended retail prices: the manufacturer notes that store prices may vary and does not say whether VAT or other taxes are included.

The page does not mention pre-orders or delivery times for specific countries. Several outlets reported ¥119,000 for Japan, which does not match the official website; we use Thrustmaster's figure. The brand says more details will follow in the coming months.
