The Frankfurt demo comes before the PS5 release

BeamNG.drive for PlayStation 5 can be tried in Fanatec’s area at SimRacing Expo Frankfurt 2026, according to the manufacturer’s official event recap. The demonstration precedes the October 19 Early Access launch. That date is not a new reveal today: BeamNG announced it on September 24, after confirming the PS5 version in May.

The event’s current relevance is the chance to try that version before release. The organiser also schedules a BeamNG presentation for Saturday, October 17, at 16:00 CEST. That stage appearance and Fanatec’s demonstration are Expo activities; neither means the PS5 game is already generally available.

October 19: timing and what Early Access means

The developer dates the PS5 release for Monday, October 19, 2026. PlayStation’s official European page additionally lists 14:00 UTC, equivalent to 16:00 CEST in mainland Spain. When checked, the listing still marked it as announced, with an option to add it to a wishlist.

Sony explicitly identifies this edition as Early Access. The game remains in active development, with later improvements and expansion; purchasers can help shape that development through feedback. This is distinct from a finished final release. BeamNG has announced US$24.99 for PS5 and says final regional prices will be shown at launch on October 19. The post does not specify taxes, and wishlisting does not establish an available purchase.

No VR or mods at the console launch

BeamNG specifies two significant limits in its announcement: PS5 will not support virtual reality or mods at launch. For drivers using community content or a headset on PC, these are differences to consider before moving to console.

The studio aims for feature parity between platforms where possible in the longer term, but confirms neither the scope nor the timing. These limits therefore describe the launch; they are not a promise of later support or a statement that the situation can never change.

Soft-body physics and different ways to drive

The PlayStation listing presents soft-body physics as the game’s core: vehicle components and their behaviour while driving or crashing are simulated in real time. It also describes dozens of customisable vehicles and twelve open environments, with adjustments to items such as wheels, suspension and engines. These are advertised features, not a SimSales performance test.

The description lists Free Roam, Scenarios and Time Trials. They offer routes and challenges beyond circuit racing, from exploring to completing missions or improving a time. This article’s images come from Sony’s official listing and show promotional game scenes; they are not photographs of the Frankfurt demonstration.

The PC statement and the remaining details

For PC, BeamNG says version 0.40 is expected around the PS5 release date. That wording does not establish the same day and time for both platforms. The console reveal also does not confirm that every PC feature will reach PS5 together.

Regional pricing and the compatibility documentation for individual peripherals still need checking before purchase. A demonstration in Fanatec’s area does not by itself establish every supported wheel or base. The date, Early Access status and initial lack of VR and mods are supported by the developer and official PlayStation listing.
