MOZA buying guide: wheel bases, wheels and pedals for your simulator

Choose a MOZA combination for your platform, driving disciplines and mounting. Compare ranges, distinguish complete bundles from base-and-wheel packages and prepare your parts in the builder.

Start with the platform, not the torque figure

On PC you can combine documented USB devices from different brands. Console connections are more restrictive: a wheel fitting the base does not prove compatibility. Before comparing ranges, check the platform and game supported by the exact combination you intend to buy.

The PC and Xbox R3 packages are different products. The ESX wheel provides Xbox licensing in supported combinations; choosing a different wheel can change that compatibility.

  • Xbox requires an officially supported combination, not simply a MOZA base.
  • MOZA does not declare official support for PlayStation 4 or 5.

R3, R5 and R5 Pro: starting with a bundle

The R3 declares 3.9 Nm and the R5 Racing Bundle 5.5 Nm. They are entry points for someone who needs a base, wheel and pedals together. The R5 Pro is a different generation: it declares 6 Nm and includes the ES Lite wheel and SRP Lite2 pedals; the R5 Racing uses ES and SR-P Lite.

Our advice is to compare the whole package before adding accessories. An included clamp helps you start on a suitable desk, but your chair and pedals must also stay stable.

  • R5 Racing and R5 Pro include throttle, brake and desk clamp.
  • Neither includes a clutch; buy the version for the exact pedal family.

R9, R12 and Ultra: balance the whole budget

The R9 V3 declares 9 Nm and the R12 V2 12 Nm. That difference gives you more force headroom, but does not measure the quality of the whole simulator. Compare the cost including a wheel, pedals and mounting before choosing a stronger base.

The current range also includes R16 Ultra, R21 Ultra and R25 Ultra. For a project at this level, we would prioritise rigid mounting and suitable pedals before spending the entire budget on steering. Force is adjustable; you do not have to use the maximum.

  • Check the generation: R9 V2 and V3, or an earlier R16 and Ultra, are different products.
  • Advertised torque does not guarantee faster lap times.

Choose a wheel for what you drive

For rally and drifting we would prioritise a round wheel such as CS V2P or RS V2, which lets you reposition your hands during large steering movements. For GT and formula racing, KS and GS V2P offer an open shape; FSR2 adds a built-in display and dedicated controls.

Let your disciplines guide the choice. If you alternate rally and formula, a second wheel may be more useful than a more expensive first wheel. A built-in display is less useful if you always drive in VR.

  • Compare diameter, shape, paddles and the controls you will actually use.
  • Check the exact base and wheel models before assuming compatibility.

Pedals: one unit is not a complete pedal set

SR-P Lite and SRP Lite2 are the entry-level families included in several bundles. SRP2 provides a load-cell brake and direct USB connection to PC. CRP2 offers further adjustment and also supports an independent PC connection; its throttle-and-brake set does not include a clutch.

mBooster is a configurable active pedal. The set with a CRP2 throttle covers two driving functions; one standalone active pedal cannot simultaneously replace brake, throttle and clutch. Check plates, power supply and box contents before comparing it with another set.

  • SR-P, SR-P Lite, SRP Lite2 and CRP2 clutches belong to different pedal families.
  • A stiffness kit for SR-P Lite does not turn it into a load-cell brake.

What a bundle actually includes

The word bundle does not mean you have everything required to drive. R9 + KS and R12 + KS combine a base and wheel: add pedals and mounting. R5 Racing and R5 Pro, in contrast, include two pedals and a clamp. Do not buy duplicates of included components.

Compare a bundle and separate parts against the same requirements. A base-and-wheel discount becomes less decisive if you must immediately replace the pedals or buy accessories you had not counted.

  • Read the box contents rather than relying on the promotional image.
  • Budget for a separate clutch when your driving requires one.

Universal Hub: communication and mounting are separate

The Universal Hub connects certain MOZA wheels and peripherals to a PC. The documentation names KS, FSR2, Vision GS and TSW, among others; this is not a promise that every wheel or base is compatible. Do not automatically add it for a native connection between supported MOZA devices.

With another brand of base, check two things separately: communication between the wheel and PC, and physical attachment. The kit adapter supports 50 and 70 mm patterns, but a specific quick release or another part may still be required.

  • The hub alone does not provide PlayStation compatibility.
  • Include mandatory parts in the budget before buying.

Turn the selection into a complete simulator

Use this guide's combinations as starting points in the builder. Review the platform, variants and included components, then add a cockpit and seat or appropriate desk mounting. Electrical connections and physical mounting are checked separately.

If your existing base is sufficient, we would review stability, seating position and pedals before buying more torque. These are editorial recommendations grounded in official documentation, not personal testing of every product or certification of every physical combination.

  • Open the builder to adapt the parts to what you already own.
  • Use the assistant if you prefer to start with a budget and driving disciplines.

MOZA combinations to start building

Editorial selections for PC. Review variants, connections and mounting in the builder; add a cockpit, seat and other parts according to what you already own. Check current product pages for prices and availability. These selections do not include a PC or displays. Complete the mounting and review the exact connections before buying.

Confirm the exact model, variant and current manufacturer manual before ordering.
